Openings: World War Z, Monsters University

??WORLD WAR Z? Zombies threaten destruction of the world as Brad Pitt tries to figure out a way to stop them. The film has a budget of $170 million, which makes it, perhaps, the most expensive zombie movie in history ? a long way from the low-budgeted ?Night of the Living Dead? (1968), which remains the classic of the genre. PG-13 (116 mins.)

?MONSTERS UNIVERSITY? This prequel to ?Monsters, Inc.? has blue furball Sulley (voice of John Goodman) and one-eyed green underdog Mike (voice of Billy Crystal) majoring in scaring at a university that, like many movie universities, has frat jocks and an evil school mistress (voice of Helen Mirren). It?s from Pixar, which has taken over Disney animation and has never had a flop. G (110 mins.)

??THE EAST?? Corporate conniving is at the center of things as Brit Marling plays an undercover miss who attempts to expose a collective known for illegal attacks on major corporations, but, lo and behold, she falls in love with the group?s leader (Alexander Skarsg?rd). Ellen Page and Patricia Clarkson are also in the cast. PG-13 (116 mins.)

?WE STEAL SECRETS: THE STORY OF WIKILEAKS? Long before the advent of the Internet, some smart ones among us knew enough not to put anything in writing. This documentary gives what it claims is a balanced view of Julian Assange, who remains accused of massive info theft (or did he just perform a public service by proving it can be done?). (130 mins.)

??THE BLING RING? Empty-headed teenage vandals get caught when they steal nearly $3 million in jewelry and stuff from the homes of Lindsay Lohan and her ilk. It actually happened in 2009. Former ?Harry Potter? actress Emma Watson has top billing. It?s directed by Francis Ford Coppola?s little girl, Sofia, who tends to get critical raves (from some) every time she sneezes. R (90 mins.)
