Title	Overview of the Australian educational system
Abstract	This paper makes a brief introduction to the Australian educational system for China?s reference and international cooperation in education.In Australia,there are 6 states and 2 special districts in total with a population of 20,230,000,and English is its official language.Autonomous education is practiced in all the states.In the whole country,the enrollment of the students is about 3,300,000,and two third of the schools are run by the government.The education before middle school lasts for 13 years(including one pre-school year),and the education after middle school is divided into two types: vocational and technical education and higher education.The local government of every state and demesne is entitled to examine the qualifications of educational and training institutions for registration and administration,and also to provide funds to those institutions.The federal government allocates funds to higher education,and improves the education quality by use of national funds,and is responsible for the liaison of international exchanges of education.
