Workers at Pilgrim nuclear plant in Plymouth to vote on new union contract

Members of the company that runs a Plymouth nuclear plant and the union representing some of its workers agreed Saturday to present a four-year pay and benefits package to union members for a vote, officials said.

The vote is expected to occur next Saturday, according to a statement from Entergy Corp., which owns the nuclear plant. The proposed contract would apply to approximately 240 of the plant?s 650 workers, said Rob Williams, Entergy Corp. spokesman.

The two sides also agreed to keep the current contract in effect until midnight on June 5.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced Friday it had decided to extend the plant?s license e nuclear plant to produce energy for another 20 years.
